Our client is seeking to appoint a Development Lead to their Development team, based in the South West of the UK heading up a team of varied, multinational colleagues. My client is a world leader in food ingredients, enzymes and bio-based solutions and is seeking to develop the Development team within the Animal Nutritional Field in the immediate future.
You will be comfortable with the below listed duties, with further as required. All applicants for the lead position would have extensive Nutritional related experience, Managerial skills, and excellent communication abilities. The successful applicant will be required to travel over 20% of their time to varied countries global including the US, Australia, the EU and occasionally China. Duties
• Lead a group of scientists responsible for overseeing the Development phase of the company Animal Nutrition’s new product development process
• Be a key member of the project teams responsible for product development - comprising Research, Technical Services, Regulatory, Intellectual Property and Product Management teams
• Liaise and network with leading contract research organisations globally to deliver high quality data on time and to budget
• Develop and maintain a high scientific profile to support company Animal Nutrition’s healthy nutrition solutions for the animal feed industry
Tasks
• Line management responsibilities for four people in the comapny Animal Nutrition Development team
• Planning and execution of research trials with leading contract research organisations globally, to meet agreed timescales and budgets
• Liaise with Product Management, Technical Services, Regulatory and Intellectual Property teams to ensure maximum value capture from new product and service solutions
• Produce internal summary reports to target deadlines to speed effective decision-making within the new product development process
• Produce scientific papers and present at scientific conferences to support the companies Animal Nutrition’s profile in supplying healthy nutrition solutions to the animal feed industry
The applicant
• You will be qualified to a PhD / MSc level with Animal Science or related field, and have proven experiences within the field.
• Good Animal Nutrition understanding (Monogastric, and ruminant)
• Energetic individual with considerable intellect
• Good scientific, animal nutrition and microbial knowledge at Research, Development and applied levels is desirable
• Excellent ability to communicate at all levels, internally and externally, in a written form
• Good presentation skills
• Ability to think strategically and make a significant contribution to the sustainable profit development of the business
• Able to fully utilise Information Technology with extensive experience in the design and statistical analysis of trials
• Leadership and people management skills
• Good communication skills in English, including clear report writing, scientific writing, and effective oral communication with individuals and groups
• Organised and shows attention to detail
• Achieve deadlines
• Team player and self-motivated
• Multilingual skills an advantage - able to work in a multi-cultural environment
• Good cross functional communication skills & relationship / network building
• Methodical, systematic and accurate approach
